We are looking for short-term (3-6 months) volunteer physio and occupational therapists, preferably with some paediatric experience to help in Kenya. This is at a project for children with a wide range of disabilities (mostly CP) - the aim is to increase awareness of disability in the community as well as helping individual children.
We have sent 2 SLTs there before and Debbie a physio is there at the moment for 6 months. We have also sent a group to build a dormitory for children with disabilities at a local school and plan to send another group in January to help construct wheelchair-friendly dining facilities.
The next therapist placement would probably start in the Autumn of 2009, we expect there will be a need for others to follow on later also.
